Razor Penguin’s Simulant Guide for Perfect Dark

One of the greatest features on Perfect Dark is the option to have up to 12 players duke it out on a level. Eight sims are avaible at one time, and some of them are very smart. Sims will never be as good as humans, and they can be tricked easily. Sims also have natural advantages. As early as an EasySim, they will be faster then humans, can reload much faster, change guns faster, climb ladders faster, open doors backwards, etc. Still, sims have a computerized brain and cannot think on their own. They are a step up from most bots/sims out there, though.

In this guide, you will find the following:

1.Sim types

2.Sim strageties

3.Sims on your teams

4.Dealing with DarkSims

5.Sims on levels

Enjoy!

1. These are the different difficulties of sims and the different types of sims.

Meatsim

Accuracy-Around 10%

Balance-Horrible

Speed-Slow

Choice of weapons-Horrible

Level Knowledge-Poor

The meatsim will provide anything but a challenge. You should never put it on your team, mainly because it cares more about running into walls then helping you. Their reaction speed is also bad. You could follow one around the whole level before it would turn on you. The only thing useful about it is that it is the funnest thing to mow down in massive quantities. They are also the only sims that won't use the disarm function.

EasySim

Accuracy-25%

Balance-Poor

Speed-A tad slower then humans

Choice of weapons-Average

Level Knowledge-Average

This is by far a step up from meatsims. They are also very annoying in groups. While their difficulties are low, they will kill you sooner or later. They are also very suicidal and are fond of stealing weapons.

Normal Sim

Accuracy-50%

Balance-Good

Speed-Sometimes faster then humans

Choice of weapons-Good

Level Knowledge-Good

The normalsim is much improved from the other two. It provides a good challenge is the best idea for a team against humans. Normalsims have very good accuracy and will mow you down from behind if you don't watch it. A very good practice sim.

HardSim

Accuracy-80%

Balance-Great

Speed-Almost always faster then humans

Choice of weapons-Great

Level Knowledge-Almost Perfect

The Hardsim is serious business. With this sim, you will start using some of your tricks of the trade to win. Great against experts since it is the highest level sim you can find that wont start you into a fit right away or cheat. If you face one with no weapons, run like crazy for defense.

PerfectSim

Accuracy-95%

Balance-Awesome

Speed-Always faster then humans

Choice of weapons-Perfect

Level Knowledge-Perfect

This is by far the most annoying sim out there. DarkSims you'd expect to be tough, but they act smart, and are usually fun to battle with. But there is something about this guy that ticks me off. He cheats all the time, and is very mean to begining players. I rarely play with this sim because of it.

DarkSim (dun dun dun)

Accuracy-99%

Balance-Perfect

Speed-Much faster then humans

Choice of weapons-Perfect, in fact they sometimes bwgin with one.

Level Knowledge-Ultimate

Ahh, the darksim. A cyborg. The one that is always in the dinner jacket. Near perfect aim, top speed, and a few cheating techniques make this the ultimate sim. He gains even more speed when seeking you out.

SpeedSim

The speed sim is the only type of sim with no catch. There is nothing complicated about him. He just runs really fast. Just camp and wait for him.

JudgeSim

Another sim with little catch. He goes after the winner, and hes great for multiplayer death matches as a perfect or darksim. He'll blast other players, but will run right past them.

FeudSim

This sim is somewhat pointless. It goes after a player it randomly chooses and keeps going after him for the game. Its ok for some matches.

TurtleSim

It takes a while to put a dent in this tank. He is only about 50% as fast as a human, but in reward, he has a super sheild. This makes him deadly at high levels. Take your time to fortify a base and get behind him and blast his head relentlessly.

KazeSim

Very annoying with explosives, this sim will go after you instead of getting weapons half the time. It will charge you with its bare hands.

FistSim

This sim is more deadly then it sounds. If you don't kill it quickly, it will hit you with top accuracy. Its punches are twice as powerful as a normal persons. It will also use anything that is none projectile. This includes all pistol whipping weapons, knife slashing, reapage, and lethal injections, so be careful!

Shieldsim

Um...lets see...it goes after shields as soon as it loses any. Um...wow.

Rocketsim

Goes around collecting explosive weapons and blowing you to kingdom come. If there are none, it will go after the more powerful weapon.

Preysim

Yikes this guy is unfair! If you just respawned or are the weakest of everyone. A chain reaction could occur if you keep getting killed and respawning next to him.

Peacesim

This gun hating sim will use its fists and go around collecting weapons. When he's done doing that, he'll disarm the players.

Vengesim

Similar to the Judgesim, this sim will chase after the player who last defeated it in a rage. He'll choose someone else if he gets killed following a different target.

Cowardsim

Runs away to gather weapons and will only attack if he has the upper hand.

2. Sim Strategies

Here you will find general strageties to use against sims and stratagies against certain types of sims.

1.Sims usually get stuck on ladders use this to your advantage.

2.Sims don't know about unbreakable glass. Let them stand there shooting at you until your ready.

3.Blast sims when they open slow opening doors.

4.Always stay above your enemy it makes them much weaker.

5.Use pillars to travel around sims to make them confused.

6.Use the up and down C buttons to look in those directions instead of using R when moving.

7.Sims are weakest when traveling around corners.

8.For sims, put a laptop gun in large place that have the most cover instead of hiding them.

9.Circle a sim at high speed while blasting it.

10.Usually wait for a sim to come to you and fortify cover.

Except for Feudsims, there are strageties to use against sims.

Cowardsim

Not much of a stragety here, just blast it before it can get the better weapons.

Turtlesim

The only thing you can really do against this sim is blast its head from behind by forming a base and circling it when it comes into view.

Sheildsim

Getting the sheild before this sim will make it ticked, making it easy to kill. If you've full shield, wait by another one. When he comes shooting, you'll take the shield when you get hit and can line up for an easy kill.

Preysim

This guy is fun. Go around killing everyone agressively to make it go to them. There's no camping with this guy around, just go around killing your oppenents.

Kazesim

Blast this guy when he spawns. Its best not to run away from it, instead shoot at it ruthlessely before it strikes.

Judgesim

Wait for others to gain points then let it kill them off. Go on a rage a few minutes before the game ends.

Peacesim

Allow it to go around collecting weapons. It usually collects them further away from players. When its ready for who, shoot it before it attacks you and disarms to have a group of weapons splurt out. Its hard to recover if you get disarmed.

Rocketsim

Use the same stragety you used against the shieldsim against this guy, except with explosive weapons. Get them before he does.

Vengesim

The best thing to do against this sim is kill him and then run into groups of others. Chances are, they will shoot it. Or, if you don't want to mess with it at all, just stay away from it alltogether.

Speedsim

Don't run away. The best thing you can do is hide and wait for it. If your reaction speed isn't top notch, you'll be shotdown quickly.

Fistsim

Blast it! As soon as you see it, shoot. If it hits you, you'll get real dizzy and become more vulnerable. Bases with big cover work well against em.

3.Sims on your teams

Having a sim on your team is one of the funnest things to do. You feel like you have so much control over it. You can give him many orders and act just like a general. Sometimes, you may even become emotionally attached to him and when he gets shot by your enemy, you get payback. Here are 10 basic tips to use with your sim(s).1.For the fairest action, use normalsims.

2.One of the most important things to give your sim is camouflage. Almost every sim can blend into some type of scenery as long as they aren’t multicolored. Dark colored sims do well on most levels, but not all.

3.Height matters. While the height range of sims isn’t huge, there are many sims taller or smaller then others. In fact, if you have a large group of sims that are all the same character, the game will randomly give them different heights. Usually, its best to put the short guys up higher, mainly because they have more power up there and the shortness provides more cover. Tall people should be more out in the open, but blending in with the scenery as well.

4.Avoid aliens. Aliens are fun to play with by yourself, but on teams, they get annoying. For one, it looks childish to have aliens on your team. Second, if you have their normal heads on, it may be more of a downside for you. Third, if you put a human head on them, it looks freaky and is unfair. Even more unfair then oddjob! Lastly, aliens’ small height gives them many disadvantages. They cannot even shoot from the area 52 guard towers, and they have trouble shooting over crates.

5.Its best to let your sim come to you if your making a base. It will eventually. Sims love to gather whatever weapons are closest to you. It may die a few times, but that’s the price you pay. It may respawn next to you, so be patient.

6.Sims can be troublesome. At times, they may run out of your base to gather more weapons even if they are on hold. Half the time, they choose the worst time to go out and do this, because your oppenent maybe lurking about.

7.Don’t hesitate to call back a sim. If you know that he is in line of fire and cannot shoot back (and it happens often), use your lightning fast reflexes to move him by putting him on protect and finding another spot.

8.If your attacking your enemy’s base, take half or none of your sims, since leaving is also the perfect chance for your enemy to strike.

9.Don’t under estimate defend and follow. In your earlier stages of your base, use defend more then hold. When its ready, set everyone on hold. This is really useful on the larger levels.

10.Remember the sim is nowhere near as smart as a human. Don’t sit there watching him get shot, go out and help him if he’s in trouble near your base. If you think you can’t, then he’ll have to fend for himself.

11.Ok so there is one extra but its worth it. Lastly, use you imagination. Think of the most creative spots to put your sims. As long as they can get there, you may find a place you’d want to put them over and over.

4.Dealing with Darksims

Before you read this, read everything else. There are a few special ways to take care of Darksims. Darksims are not smart. That’s right, they aren’t like any sim. Sims are characterized by accuracy and speed by the most part. Darksims hold both high. Because of it, you will have to use special tricks to fight one, but it wont be as hard as a good human. Darksims don’t bother hiding, they don’t bother making bases, and they don’t care if you respawned just now. The smaller the base, the better the chance you have against these beasts. For example, think of sims’ weaknesses. A guard tower in area 52 is not a good place to shoot em from, mainly cause you’ll be dead as soon as you see them anyway. For Darksims, the cover a tower gives is no match for their weapons. They’ll shoot your head with almost perfect aim. Instead, duck down into the guard tower and scrunch into the corner. Wait for one to come up the ladder and blast his legs when he comes up. Use the best strageties you can think of and you’ll succeed.

5.Sims on levels

Sims behave differently on each level. This final list describes the pros and cons of their actions. A pro is for you as is a con.

Temple

+Sims have no door smarts. Shoot at their legs when they are opening the doors, then run into position. Sometimes you can keep closing the door and shooting. Half the time, they’ll be running backwards, too.

-The biggest problem is that they will shoot you clear across large rooms, even when a human player couldn’t see. Luckily, the accuracies are poor.

Complex

+There are many ramps on this level, so it is easy to shoot them running up them. Sims are slow climbing up the hidden ladder in the large backroom, shoot them while they are.

-Sims will always shoot at you even when its unfair. Avoid darkness, a sim maybe hiding in there.

Pipes

+Sims love risking their lives on the pipes to collect weapons. Wait above and shoot one into the blackness.

-Watch out for ladders and the many holes on this level. You’ll never know when a sim will jump down at you, so be on full alert.

Carpark

+Shoot sims when they running down the ramps and your behind him.

-Avoid the vice-versa!

Fortress

+The crates on the third floor provide great cover against sims. They are also weak on elevators.

-Be careful going into the main area, espicially if your on the bottom. They shoot you from almost anywhere.

Felicity

+Sims get stuck climbing up the vents. Sometimes they even get stuck in a toilet! The best thing to do is charge them when they are weakest. Hurry, because as soon as enter the room, they usually get unstuck.

-There’s really not too many disadvantages here. Just use the normal techniques.

Base

+Sims are tough on this stage. The best thing to do is stay above them and shoot them when they are climbing ladders.

-Sims know the stage better then you, and you will be ambushed if you don’t keep your guard up.

Villa

+Because most of this level is bright, you can spot the sim easily and shoot him from above.

-There is little cover on this stage, so making whatever base wil be hard. You’ll be cut down quickly if you come into view.

Area 52

+The best place to hide with sims is the room with multiple steel windows. Just wait in there for a sim to open a door and shoot em.

-Avoid guard towers unless you are really good. Sims will often shoot you first.

Warehouse

+The Hover Crate provides great cover as does the roof on the open air area.

-Sims will sneak up on you very quickly, take a few shots, and hide again, so make sure you are fully aware of your surroundings.

Ravine

+Sims will die quickly if you attack them from above and attack them quickly.

-Sims like to hide in the darkness, and then shoot at you when you least expect it.

Ruins

+Shoot at sims when they try to open the doors. Use the mountains to run up on and for cover when fighting sims.

-This level is complicated and dark, it’s a challenge with high level sims.

Skedar

+The nice basic layout of this level will provide all the cover you need for good hunting.

-…Its too bad the sims think the same thing.

Grid

+Sims are weak in the elevator. They also cannot travel on the glass. The many doors will also wear them down.

-Never get trapped in an elevator, the sims will home on you. When the doors reopen, step out with your guns blazing, they like to wait for it.

Sewers

+There aren’t too many things you can do here. My favorite thing to do is to duck into the water and wait for them to jump in with you, while getting shot.

-This level is tough with sims. This level provides the steepest challenge for you against sims, so use your wits.

G5 Building

+Shove sims off the platforms! Its fun. Don’t forget to hide in the fox hole.

-The bridges will be traveled often. Speed through them to avoid being shot off by smart sims.
